Barley fell first, you fell harder.

The two of you had been close friends for a few years. He realized his feelings for you around the time he turned eighteen.

He definitely has a music playlist dedicated to you. It was initially made on a whim, but then the discography grew increasingly more affectionate.

You have the same tattoo on your left arm that he does on his right.

Play wrestling is definitely a thing for you guys.

One of his favorite things to do is going for snack runs with you in his van in the evening. Sometimes he’ll take the long way home just to have a few more minutes with you.

He honestly felt honored the first time you fell asleep while he was driving.

Believe you me, Barley is way too good at making you smile and laugh, even when you don’t want to.

Even if you’re super bummed or stressed out, his Medieval Voice works like a charm on you.

Barley feel like a million bucks whenever he gets you to laugh.

But he does know when to get serious.

Like this one time when you were just stuck in a major funk, and despite the small laugh Barley got out of you, it didn’t get rid of the hurt. So he stayed and waited it out with you so at least you weren’t alone.

Having him there did make it easier.

Yes of course Laurel loves you.

She and Ian have listened to Barley talk about you so much that it felt like they already knew you by the time you first came over to meet them.

Frankly, it boggles their minds that you two aren’t going out. (yet)

Trust me, Barley wants to ask you out, so bad, more than anything. He’s thought about it a hundred times by now. But he just… can’t. Not yet.

You potentially turning him down wasn’t even half the reason for his hesitation, no, it was the thought that you’d say yes, but then he’d screw it up somehow.

Barley isn’t afraid of very much, only a handful of things. Those include; anything bad happening to his mom or brother, and letting you down.

Speaking of which, you never stand for anyone talking to/about Barley like that, even before you realized you had a crush on him.

Whether it be with a death glare or some choice words, you would make your displeasure clear.

Officer Bronco is honestly kind of scared of you at this point.

The way you’ve always had his back and treated him with the respect and dignity that most people deny him makes Barley feel like if he really did his best, he could be a good boyfriend to you.

Chances are, you may have to be the one to make the first move.

This is probably so niche but twinyards Onward AU:

Tilda is the dad except shit, obviously. Aaron is Barley, who loved her, and Andrew is Ian, who barely knew her.

Aaron wants to bring Tilda back, but Andrew is dead set against it. Aaron, of course, thinks Andrew is just being spiteful and trying to hurt him. Andrew just doesn't want seeing Tilda to hurt Aaron or undo all the progress his brother worked so hard for.

In the end, Andrew helps Aaron get his last conversation with Tilda, and Aaron tells her how wrong she was about her sons; they were going to make something of themselves, despite her.
